You Are My Life

synopsis

The life and final days of a couple who met by chance. A ‘something’ passed between them thats set them apart — a very special bonding of love.

Their idyllic life seemed to come to an end when the husband was struck down by pancreatic cancer.

It is their last few hours that form the basis of this story and paint the picture of a perfect love.

excerpt

Charlie had been drifting in and out of deep unconsciousness. Never really waking up, but periodically becoming aware that Ellen was physically there by his side.

He could feel her hand – or was it just that he sensed her presence and knew that she would be holding his hand?

Once or twice he tried to speak, but although words formed in his mind they could not be spoken. The link between brain and tongue just didn’t seem connected.

It was all so terribly frustrating.

If only he could just say “I love you” he knew he could be content. Not that he didn’t know that Ellen was perfectly well aware of his love. No, it was a selfish thing this wanting to say it out loud. It was more to ease his soul than to reassure Ellen.
